The final essay to Dr. Langston’s American Romanticism and Transcendentalism course, using a Marxist lens, the paper explores the dynamics between Bartleby, who chooses not to conform to the demands of his work. Highlighting the lawyer’s transactional view of his employees and Bartleby’s ultimate rejection of this system, the essay argues that “Bartleby the Scrivener” critiques the alienation and exploitation inherent in capitalist societies.

December 2017

The final essay to Dr. Kersnowski’s Literary Criticism course, surveying the cultural network of interlacing influences, inspirations, and interactions between several visual Modernist works in reference to Gertrude Stein’s Tender Buttons.

A queer analysis of feminine erotica as gothic horror in Christina Rosetti’s Goblin Market appearing in Pecan Grove Review vol. XVIII published by St. Mary’s University.

Spring 2017

A conference paper presented at the Intersections: Identity and Ideology Conference hosted by Texas A&M – San Antonio. This paper delves into the manifestation of hypermasculinity and sexual violence between The Judge and The Kid in Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian, the partial namessake of this portfolio.
